Job summary

Grand Canyon West is seeking a Security Guard - GCW to insure the safety of facilities, assets, employees and guests. The role monitors entrances and patrols the area around Guano Point, Eagle Point and Skywalk, and acts as an ambassador for guests seeking assistance.

The position requires outdoor work, physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs, a valid driver's license, and a clean background. Preference may be given to Hualapai Tribal members; candidates should be prepared for varying shifts,

Qualifications

• Good oral communication skills.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Man entry point station and ensure visitors have paid to proceed toward parking area.
• Patrol Guano point, Eagle Point and Skywalk to insure visitors have paid appropriate entrance fee.
• Patrol the grounds, transport guests on occasion and respond to emergencies.
• Monitor guest activity and escort off the premises anyone under the influence.
• Answer visitor questions and share information about GCW and Hualapai culture.
• Provide security escort for money transports on location.
• Continuously monitor areas for trash and debris by foot or vehicle.
• Monitor vehicle fluid levels and keep vehicles clean and stocked.
• Fuel vehicles and insure tire-changing tools/equipment are aboard.
• Maintain log of vehicle maintenance practices.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Insures the security of facilities, resources, employees and guests at Grand Canyon West. Monitors guest movements throughout location. Acts as Hualapai ambassador for guests asking for assistance. Assists with vehicle fleet.

Knowledge and Abilities:

1. Ability to assess security situations or issues and take appropriate action.
2. Ability to assist with management of fleet vehicles, monitor and fill vehicle fluid levels and clean vehicles, as needed.
3. Ability to patrol grounds on foot and by vehicle and occasionally transport guests.
4. Ability to work in outdoor environment for long periods of time.
5. Ability to work in a team environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Man entry point station and ensure visitors have paid in order to proceed toward parking area. Patrol Guano point, Eagle Point and Skywalk to insure visitors have paid appropriate entrance fee.
2. Patrol the grounds of Grand Canyon West, transport guests on occasion and respond to emergency issues at remote area locations.
3. Monitor guest activity and escort off the premises any person under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
4. Answer visitor/tourists questions, gives directions, share information about GCW, the Hualapai history and culture, etc.
5. Provide security escort for all money transports done on location.
6. Continuously monitor areas for trash/debris by foot and/or vehicle
7. Monitor vehicle fluid levels; oil, transmission, brake, etc. as needed to prevent vehicle failure, keeps vehicle clean; wipes seat, cleans windows, empties trash after each shift and washes vehicle as needed
8. Fuel vehicles and insure tire-changing tools/equipment are aboard vehicles.
9. Maintain log of vehicle maintenance practices.
10. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Position requires ability to work indoors as well as in outdoor environment for long periods of time, regardless of weather conditions. Must also have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as part of duties. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
