Job summary

The Council on Foreign Relations is seeking a Regional Engagement Director based in Northern California to lead strategic outreach and engagement across the West Coast. The role will work with CFR leadership to expand CFR's presence among policymakers, academics, technologists, educators, and civil society on the West Coast.

Based remotely in the Bay Area, frequent travel within the region and periodic trips to CFR offices in New York and Washington, DC are required.

Qualifications

• BA or BS in international relations or related field; MA/MS preferred.
• 10+ years in public affairs, government relations, or related fields; Bay Area experience preferred.
• Strong communication, writing, and public speaking skills; ability to convey complex issues to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a diverse regional network of leaders to amplify CFR's mission.
• Develop a regional outreach strategy for West Coast engagement.
• Strengthen CFR connections with constituency groups and provide access to CFR experts.
• Represent CFR at regional events and manage logistics with staff.
• Coordinate cross-departmental initiatives and regional programming.
• Travel frequently within the West Coast and periodically to CFR offices.
