Job summary

Environmental Defense Fund, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Giving Officer to cultivate and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects in the western United States.

The role focuses on proactive engagement and developing opportunities for increased support within the Catalyst Circle. You will lead personalized outreach, coordinate with our membership team for mail- and email-based appeals, and work closely with the Catalyst Circle stewardship staff to ensure donor-centric experiences and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years relevant professional experience including a minimum of three years of experience working with donors in a non-profit setting.
• Superior interpersonal communication skills and a high level of comfort, discretion and success in seeking and conducting donor meetings; excellent writing and public speaking skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and in collaboration within a team and across departments and organizational functions to help achieve shared success.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage a portfolio of donors and prospects with a primary focus on cultivation and stewardship in the western U.S.
• Develop tailored one-to-one communications using existing materials and create bespoke materials to engage donors.
• Schedule and conduct face-to-face and virtual meetings with high-potential donors to advance giving.
• Assist leadership in setting annual contact and revenue goals for the portfolio and sustain high outreach activity.
• Articulate EDF’s mission and impact through a compelling case for support to donors and prospects.
• Produce tailored gift acknowledgments and receipts in partnership with the stewardship team.
• Maintain donor data with strict confidentiality and collaborate with programs across Development.
• Collaborate with Planned Giving to identify opportunities for donors jointly managed.
