Job summary

YMCA of Dane County is seeking an Assistant Swim Team Coach to lead evening practices and support youth swimmers in a positive environment.

Responsibilities include coaching strokes, starts, and turns, while promoting discipline and teamwork. Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications are required, with safety training preferred. Part-time hours may fit around student or family schedules.

Qualifications

• Competitive swimming experience at high school or college level.
• Current Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED certifications required.
• Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification is desired.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe environment for all swimmers and spectators.
• Provide instruction in stroke technique, starts and turns.
• Develop and administer team discipline and leadership.
• Attend scheduled swim meets as needed.
• Foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude.

HOURS: Between 4-9pm Monday -Thursday and 4-6:30pm on Friday. We can work around your schedule.

The Assistant Swim Team Coach assists in conducting quality practices which foster a positive swimming experience that will provide an educational experience, aid personal development, contribute to self discipline and provide a rewarding experience for our Swim Team members.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures safe environment for all swimmers and spectators
• Provides instruction in stroke technique as well as starts and turns.
• Develops and administers strong team discipline at all times
• Attends scheduled swim meets as needed
• Builds team leadership, encourages good sportsmanship, team loyalty, hard work and courteous, respectful behavior.
• Demonstrates a cheerful, positive attitude.

Qualifications:

• Competitive swimming experience at the high school level or collegiate level required.
• Must possess and maintain current Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED certifications.
• Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification is desired.
