Job summary

West Advanced Special Operations Techniques (ASOT) Instructor position at Walsingham Group, Inc. based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, McChord Field, WA. Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and update instructional materials, lesson plans, and doctrine supporting Advanced Special Operations training.
  • Deliver classroom and field instruction on advanced Special Operations techniques and tactics.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide counseling, mentoring, and constructive feedback throughout the course.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute complex Field Training Exercises (FTXs) in urban and rural environments.
  • Ensure all training is conducted in accordance with USSOCOM, Army, and USAJFKSWCS standards.
  • Brief military leadership and government personnel on course objectives, student performance, and training outcomes.
  • Maintain accountability of government property, training equipment, and classified materials.
  • Ensure compliance with security procedures governing classified information and sensitive equipment.
  • Support course operations requiring TDY travel as per schedule.
  • Perform duties in austere environments and extended hours to support mission requirements.
  • Promote a safe, professional, and disciplined training environment.

Position Summary:

WGI is seeking a West ASOT Instructor to be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering advanced special operations training to military personnel. The instructor will provide classroom instruction, practical exercises, and field training while ensuring compliance with applicable doctrine, training standards, and safety requirements. This position requires extensive Special Operations experience, exceptional instructional skills, and the ability to operate effectively in demanding environments.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Research, develop, and update instructional materials, lesson plans, and doctrine supporting Advanced Special Operations training.
  • Deliver classroom and field instruction on advanced Special Operations techniques and tactics.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide counseling, mentoring, and constructive feedback throughout the course.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute complex Field Training Exercises (FTXs) in urban and rural environments.
  • Ensure all training is conducted in accordance with applicable USSOCOM, Army, and USAJFKSWCS standards.
  • Brief military leadership and government personnel on course objectives, student performance, and training outcomes.
  • Maintain accountability of government property, training equipment, and classified materials.
  • Ensure compliance with all security procedures governing classified information and sensitive equipment.
  • Support course operations requiring temporary duty (TDY) travel in accordance with the approved training schedule.
  • Perform duties in austere environments and during extended or non-standard work hours as required to support mission requirements.
  • Promote a safe, professional, and disciplined training environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of the Advanced Special Operations Techniques Course (ASOTC).
  • Graduate of one of the following:
    • Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC)
    • SEAL Qualification Course
    • MARSOC Raider Training Course
  • Minimum of four (4) years of Special Operations experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using the TRADOC Systems Approach to Training (SAT) methodology.
  • Thorough understanding of USSOCOM doctrine, advanced skills training, and applicable instructional methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively instruct, mentor, and evaluate students.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of physical fitness and successfully operate in demanding field environments.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten (10) or more years of Special Operations Forces (SOF) experience.
  • Previous instructor experience supporting USAJFKSWCS, SWCS, or other USSOCOM training organizations.
  • Experience leading and supervising large-scale Special Operations field training exercises.
  • Familiarity with Emerald Nomad and current USSOCOM training doctrine.
  • Experience developing military curriculum, doctrine, and instructional materials.
  • Previous experience mentoring Special Operations candidates or operators.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain in a classroom environment for extended periods while providing instruction.
  • Ability to walk up to six (6) miles daily over uneven and rugged terrain while supporting field exercises.
  • Ability to perform duties in extreme environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and rugged terrain.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move training equipment as required.
  • Ability to travel in support of training requirements.
