Job summary

COMTO seeks an experienced civil engineer to plan, coordinate, develop, and lead projects in the west area of the Metropolitan District, focusing on Hennepin County. The role is the primary liaison with MnDOT and local agencies to balance external and internal priorities while advancing department objectives.

The position requires delivering technical directions, defining scope, schedules, and coordinating consultants, with strong emphasis on public engagement and collaborative problem solving.

Qualifications

• Licensed PE in Minnesota or ability to obtain licensure via comity.
• 3+ years of post-registration engineering experience.
• Knowledge of MnDOT standards and applicable laws/regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide inception to completion project management for Metro District and locally led projects in Hennepin County, including defining scope, schedules, directing the project team, and coordinating consultants.
• Lead, facilitate, and negotiate agreements with units of government.
• Provide lead direction in project planning to address infrastructure needs.
• Plan and conduct public engagement activities.
