Job summary

Bloom Companies, LLC in Minneapolis, MN seeks a Transportation Project Manager to lead complex transportation infrastructure projects from planning through delivery.

You will oversee design teams, coordinate with MnDOT and clients, manage budgets and schedules, and mentor engineers and drafters while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance. A Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and a MN-PE license are required, with 10–15 years in transportation design.

Qualifications

  • PE license required (Minnesota).
  • 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in transportation design.
  • Familiarity with MnDOT design engineering practices, standards, and documentation.
  • Experience with Microstation V81 SS10, OpenRoads Designer CE, ProjectWise, AutoTURN, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam.
  • Ability to collaborate with the design team, clients, and agencies.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Good decision-making, flexibility, and attention to detail.

Position

Transportation Project Manager

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience and success in managing, executing, and delivering complex projects as well as developing client relationships within transportation services
  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
  • Client development, maintenance, and management; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling; and the establishment of critical project objectives and performances
  • Manage multiple transportation projects simultaneously with effective time management
  • Lead a team of engineers and drafters, providing guidance and fostering collaboration
  • Ensure the quality of project deliverables, including designs and specifications
  • Interact and communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other agencies
  • Participate in public involvement activities
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks
  • Coordinate with subconsultants
  • Direct and train staff on project engineering (roadway geometrics, corridor models, staging)
  • Prepare project design and environmental reports
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals and contracts
  • Manage project financials
  • Assess and manage risks
  • Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Participate in quality control/quality assurance
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • PE license required (Minnesota)
  • 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in transportation design
  • Familiarity with Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) design engineering practices, standards, and documentation
  • Experience with Microstation V81 SS10, OpenRoads Designer Connect Edition (CE), ProjectWise, AutoTURN, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam
  • Ability to collaborate with the design team, clients, and agencies
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Good decision‑making skills, flexibility, focus on quality, and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
