Job summary

The Common Market in Frederick, MD is seeking a dependable Retail Associate to deliver attentive, prompt service to customers and help maintain product knowledge and displays. This role supports the co‑op’s values while working to ensure a welcoming shopping environment.

Responsibilities include stocking and rotating inventory, maintaining clean displays, and participating in trainings and meetings. A minimum of one year in retail and familiarity with natural foods are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education or experience.
• A minimum of one (1) year’s experience in a retail environment.
• A minimum of one (1) year’s experience and familiarity with natural foods and products.

• Adapts readily based on evolving co‑op needs or in response to feedback.
• Maintains composure in highly stressful or adverse situations.
• Ability to work independently.

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Flexibility to work any shift, including mornings, middays, evenings, weekends.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures (approximately 20°F – 90°F).
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods at a time.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and climb.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and unassisted.
• Reliable access to transportation.
