Job summary

YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metro Area seeks a part-time wellness attendant to support member services and maintain a safe, clean fitness area. Responsibilities include guiding members, conducting orientations, counts, and ensuring equipment is safe and well-kept.

The role requires a high school diploma, CPR/AED/First Aid certifications (or within 30 days), and adherence to YMCA safety and ADA standards. Training is provided; position offers growth and community impact.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certifications required; if not certified, must obtain within 30 days.
• Healthy Lifestyle Principles Certifications through the Y of USA required within 12 months.
• Foundations of Group Exercise or Strength & Conditioning certifications through the Y USA within 12 months.
• Praesidium training within 7 days of hire.
• Experience with diverse populations preferred.
• Understanding of ADA compliance for a public accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe use of facility and equipment by members and guests.
• Conduct member orientations as assigned.
• Conduct hourly usage counts.
• Maintain cleanliness of the facility and supply availability.
• Report equipment problems to wellness manager/director and post non-operational signs as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Follow YMCA policies, safety procedures and complete incident reports as required.
• Organize and store unused equipment.
• Engage participants through attention and communication.
• Relate effectively to a diverse community.
