Role Overview:

The Wellness Nurse provides direct nursing care to residents, delegates, and supervises care by medication care specialists. Responsibilities include administering medications, performing treatments, obtaining specimens, and completing documentation. While this description covers key duties, other related tasks may be assigned as needed. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Document resident status per policy
• Supervise team members and provide nursing care to residents
• Assist with the move-in of new residents
• Support residents with ADLs and promote independence
• Respond promptly and courteously to call systems
• Identify medical and behavioral changes; develop and monitor care plans
• Report to the Community Wellness Director on community and resident status
• Administer medications and respond to medical changes
• Supervise and lead team members, providing evaluations and counseling
• Assess resident health, develop care plans, and initiate corrective actions
• Orient residents and staff to emergency procedures
• Complete incident reports and ensure accurate resident records
• Maintain safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance
• Practice excellent customer service and uphold residents’ rights
• Perform incidental housekeeping and maintenance tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• Current nursing license in the state of employment
• At least one year of nursing experience and experience with dementia preferred
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Ability to process written information accurately
• High personal integrity and genuine compassion for older adults
• Required to receive annual Flu vaccination unless medically or religiously exempted
