Job summary

YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a Health & Wellness Specialist for the Litehouse Family YMCA. The role focuses on fitness equipment orientations, promoting health and wellness services, keeping areas clean, and enforcing guidelines. Weekday morning/afternoon shifts are required, with one weekend shift per month.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Responsibilities include demonstrating proper form, monitoring activities, assisting members, giving tours, handling complaints, and

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; candidates pursuing health/wellness degree or holding a health/wellness degree or active Personal Training Certification preferred
• Ability to interact with people of all backgrounds and ages
• Ability to actively participate in and lead fitness activities
• Working knowledge of computers and various software applications
• YMCA experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proper equipment use and exercise form
• Monitors member activities on fitness equipment, indoor track, gym floor and locker rooms
• Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashion
• Provides outstanding member service
• Gives tours to prospective members
• Handles member complaints
• Stays current with advances in the health and wellness field
• Sets up equipment for group exercise and sports activities
• Enforces YMCA member guidelines
• Performs other functions deemed necessary for smooth operation of the YMCA
