Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Wellness Coach I to build personalized relationships that support a positive member experience and oversee the wellness area. You will assist members with equipment usage and ensure adherence to policies and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include monitoring the wellness center, maintaining equipment, promoting wellness programs, completing required safety trainings, and maintaining incident documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Knowledge of general weightlifting and health/wellness concepts.
• Familiar with fitness-related topics including aerobic vs. anaerobic exercise, nutrition, injury prevention, and the Coach Approach.
• Must obtain/maintain access to Y-Exchange, Y-LINK, and to the Metro Atlanta YMCA Workday account.
• Must obtain YMCA/ACE online certification and supplemental courses within 60 days of hire.
• Must maintain BLS certification and renew every 2 years.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality.
• Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility.
• Monitor the wellness center floor and assist members while enforcing wellness center policies.
• Clean, maintain, and check equipment and report any repair needs.
• Understand and apply Metro Atlanta YMCA risk and safety guidelines and branch emergency procedures.
• Promote, monitor, evaluate, and ensure wellness programs run smoothly with high service to participants.
• Stay updated on current issues regarding wellness programs.
• Attend required staff meetings and trainings, including facility or equipment orientations.
• Attend to all aspects of the YMCA and its community.
• Maintain incident/accident paperwork.
