Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Wellness Coach I to build personalized member relationships and oversee the wellness area. You will assist with equipment usage, enforce safety guidelines, and help ensure high-quality program experiences for all members.

The role requires knowledge of fitness concepts, customer service skills, and completion of required certifications within specified timeframes. Candidates must be 18+ and able to obtain required YMCA credentials.

Qualifications

• Must be knowledgeable about general weightlifting and health/wellness concepts and demonstrate use of wellness-related equipment.
• Must understand fitness-related topics including aerobic vs anaerobic exercise, nutrition, injury prevention, and coaching approaches.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass background checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor wellness center floor and assist members, enforcing center policies.
• Clean, maintain, and check equipment; report repairs as needed.
• Complete required Y-USA health & wellness courses within 60 days of hire.
• Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings and assist in YMCA community initiatives.
