Job summary

YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas is seeking a Wellness Coach to engage and support members, coach wellness activities, and maintain equipment and facilities. You will collaborate with staff to ensure high-quality service and a welcoming environment for members and guests.

The role requires physical stamina, effective communication, and adherence to YMCA values. Training and certifications are provided, with opportunities to lead and contribute to youth development and healthy living initiatives.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age.
• Minimum 6 months experience in the wellness field.
• Grade III: 6 months wellness experience.
• Grade IV: 2 years fitness field or 2 years college level exercise science.
• Must obtain YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles and Foundations of Strength and Conditioning within 6 months.
• CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 certification within 60 days of hire.
• Complete required trainings: NEO, Bloodborne Pathogens, CAP, Sexual Harassment.
• Criminal background and Child Protective Services checks completed.

Responsibilities

• Support YMCA mission, values and goals.
• Lead with caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
• Supervise the wellness area and engage members through coaching.
• Provide training, orientations and evaluations as scheduled.
• Document daily, weekly and monthly equipment checks.
• Maintain cleanliness in wellness areas and follow procedures.
• Submit maintenance requests in software.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Be a leader in emergencies and report incidents per plan.
• Follow association standards and perform related duties for guest experience.
