Job summary

CSPNJ seeks part-time Wellness Mentors to lead and model wellness and recovery within the Wellness Center. The role collaborates with the Center Manager and members to implement daily operations, provide referrals, and foster a supportive environment.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma, related peer certifications preferred, and strong English communication. Bilingual skills are a plus; a valid NJ driver’s license is beneficial in this community-focused role.

Qualifications

• Certified Recovery Support Practitioner (CRSP), Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS), or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Job description

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for a part-time Wellness Mentor(s). Under the direction of the Wellness Center Manager, the Wellness Mentor acts as a leader and role model for members, visitors, and community members. The Mentor understands the center’s mission as well as basic principles of wellness, recovery and peer support. This position works directly with the Center Manager and in collaboration with the members to plan, implement, and maintain Wellness Center operations.

• Work with the manager to support the Agency mission by meeting and identifying needs of the local community and make connections with other relevant organizations and agencies.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of community resources and agencies to ensure members have access to robust support such as referrals to substance use recovery agencies, food banks, financial support agencies, and more.
• Collaborate with manager and members to plan and conduct all aspects of day-to-day operations of the center.
• Offer information and referral to members regarding wellness and recovery, peer support and community services.

Benefits & Pay

30 hours per week | Benefit Eligible (Medical, free DMO dental & free vision) including PTO & 11 Holidays

• Hourly Rate: $17.50 candidates without a Peer Certificate or related BA. *MUST obtain certification within a year*
• Hourly Rate: $19.23 candidates with a Peer Certificate

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in basic computer skills, including using email and internet applications, managing documents, and virtual communication platforms.
• Knowledge of wellness, the mental health system, and community resources in the region.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to carry out domestic duties, including household tasks such as cleaning and maintaining a safe and functional environment.
• Willingness to disclose mental health and/or addiction services and speak openly on their recovery.
• Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed practices.
• Bilingual skills are a plus!
• MUST have valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own life experience dealing with mental health/substance use issues to inspire and support others.

Salary Description

Hourly Rate: $17.50 OR $19.23 per hour
