Job summary

Collaborative Support Programs of NJ Inc. (CSPNJ) seeks a Wellness Mentor to lead and model recovery-oriented wellness in the center.

You will work with the Center Manager and members to plan, implement, and maintain the Wellness Center operations, while staying aligned with CSPNJ’s mission of wellness, recovery, and peer support. Responsibilities include collaborating on daily operations, identifying community needs, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of resources to provide referrals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Willingness to disclose current or prior use of mental health/substance use services is valued.
• Peer Certification preferred. Must obtain within a year.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with center manager and members to plan and conduct day-to-day operations of the wellness center.
• Identify community needs and connect with other organizations to support members.
• Maintain knowledge of community resources to ensure referrals for recovery, food banks, financial support, and more.

Description

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for a Wellness Mentor. Under the direction of the Wellness Center Manager, the Wellness Mentor acts as a leader and role model for members, visitors, and community members. The Mentor understands the center’s mission as well as basic principles of wellness, recovery and peer support. This position works directly with the Center Manager and in collaboration with the members to plan, implement, and maintain Wellness Center operations.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Collaborate with center manager and members to plan and conduct all aspects of day-to-day operations of the center.
• Work with the center manager to meet and identify the needs of the community and to make connections with other organizations and agencies.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of community resources and agencies to ensure members have access to referrals for substance use recovery agencies, food banks, financial support agencies, and more.

Schedule:

1. Friday: 6 hours | Saturday & Sunday: 7 hours | 20 hours p/w | NJESL Eligible

• Hourly Rate: $17.50 candidates without a Peer Certificate or related BA. *MUST obtain certification within a year*
• Hourly Rate: $19.23 candidates with a Peer Certificate

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Peer Certification preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English, both oral and written.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• Knowledge of wellness, the mental health system, and community resources in the region.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to disclose current or prior use of mental health and/or addiction services and speak openly on aspects of their individual recovery.
• Ability to work with individuals with mental illness in a caring and professional manner.
• Ability to carry out domestic duties.
• Bilingual skills are a plus!
• Valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own life experience dealing with mental health/substance use issues to inspire and support others.
