Job summary

Sage Memorial Hospital in Ganado, AZ seeks a Fitness Trainer to develop, coordinate and lead exercise/wellness activities within the Hoo’zhoo’gii Wellness Center. The role emphasizes mind/body connection, patient interactions, and safety policy adherence.

Essential duties include program design, performance evaluations, and data tracking to ensure compliance with contracts and quality standards. Minimum qualifications include CPT preferred or within 30 days, 1 year of experience, and BLS

Qualifications

• Certified Personal Trainer certification preferred; or must obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
• One (1) year of physical and wellness education experience.
• Must possess American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Valid state driver license and maintain a clean driving record to ensure coverage under company insurance during employment.
• Must be able to successfully pass an Employee Health Screening and background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and lead exercise/wellness activities, such as low impact aerobics, general fitness, and/or weight training, fun walk/run, health related workshops, walking clubs, health fairs, recreational sports, etc.
• Provide physical performance evaluations; designs exercise programs unique to participants; monitors and evaluates participant(s) response to prescribed exercise.
• Provide appropriate follow up data to health professionals such as physicians and dieticians concerning participant’s progress.
• Provide technical advice and response to program goals and questions.
• Coordinate activities of program with interrelated activities of other programs, departments or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies and procedures.
• Develop and provide orientation on proper use of exercise equipment and sauna, one‑on‑one/group training activities, instructions and educational materials for wellness education.
• Enforce infection control policies of the hospital to maintain a clean environment.
• Maintain daily sign-in sheets and other records for the department.
