Job summary

The State of Mississippi’s Department of Child Protection Services is seeking a Frontline Social Service Supervisor for the Wellbeing/Permanency Unit in Rankin County. This full-time role involves direct supervision, clinical and administrative support, and collaboration with foster families to achieve timely permanency for at-risk children.

Responsibilities include safety assessments, permanency planning, and court reports.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience, and 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
• The appointing authority may require a Master’s Degree and/or a social worker’s license.
• Will also require a Social Work License in the state of Mississippi for the Supervisor position.

Responsibilities

• Conducts ongoing safety and risk assessments throughout the life of the case.
• Identifies safety concerns and implements safety plans.
• Gathers demographic information to locate the child/family when contact is unavailable.
• Ensures visits with children and families support safety, permanency, and well-being.
• Establishes permanency goals through coordination with local youth court.
• Ensures foster placements are stable and in the child’s best interests.
• Maintains child connections to community, faith, school, and family.
• Documents case management activities within policy timeframes.
• Prepares court reports and provides recommendations in court proceedings.
• Participates in after-hours on-call duty for foster care and in-home services.
