Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures, a subsidiary of Arcosa, seeks a Plant Welding Instructor at the Hager City, WI plant to lead the welder training program (pole school) and ensure high safety and quality standards. The role requires hands-on welding expertise and strong classroom instruction capabilities.

You will oversee training, testing, and qualification records for FCAW, SAW, SMAW, and related processes, while developing procedures and coordinating on-the-job training for production welders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in FCAW, SAW, SMAW, plasma/air carbon arc, and layout/fit-up experience; preferably in the utility structure industry.
• Able to effectively present classroom training and hands-on welding application training.
• Proficient in conducting AWS D1.1 welder qualification tests and generating welder qualification records.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and/or CWE desired.
• Proficient with weld inspection tools such as amp/volt/wire feed/gas flow meters, fillet weld gauges, undercut gauges.
• Able to read and comprehend welding symbols, welding procedure specifications, work instructions, drawings, BOMs.
• Written and oral communication skills; bilingual Spanish desired.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily Welding School operations.
• Maintain welder candidate training, testing, and qualification records.
• Perform hands‑on welder candidate training for FCAW, SAW, SMAW, plasma cutting, and air‑carbon‑arc gouging processes.
• Conduct classroom training on welding safety, welding and cutting processes, visual weld acceptance criteria, welding symbols, drawings, etc.
• Perform hands‑on fabrication layout and fit‑up training.
• Provide additional training (OJT) to production welders as required.
• Assist in qualifying welding procedure specifications as required.
• Participate in welding improvement projects/other duties as required.
