Job summary

Acoustical Sheetmetal Company is seeking a Lead Welding Trainer to design and deliver structured welding training programs, drive AWS standards, and lead continuous improvement across facilities. You will supervise hands-on sessions, mentor welders, and ensure certification compliance while maintaining a strong shop-floor presence.

Qualifications

• Proven welding expertise across MIG, TIG, FCAW or similar processes.
• Experience training, coaching, or mentoring welders.
• Strong knowledge of AWS codes and certification requirements.
• Preferred: CWI or CWE certification and manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver structured welding training programs for new and existing employees.
• Conduct weekly hands‑on welding training sessions for all welders.
• Provide targeted coaching and retraining based on performance gaps.
• Ensure all welders are trained to ASC processes and procedures.
• Ensure all welders maintain compliance with ASC and AWS certification standards.
• Partner with Quality Control to identify weld defects and implement corrective training plans.
• Identify and drive improvements in welding processes and workforce capability.
• Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor to ensure adherence to welding standards and safety.
• Collaborate with production, safety, and quality teams across all ASC facilities.
• Analyze weld defects, repair rates, and rework trends to identify training opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
• Partner with supervisors, assistant supervisors, and team leads to identify and develop future welding talent.
• Support implementation of new welding technologies, equipment, automation, and future workforce development initiatives.
• Own the welding portion of new hire onboarding and training.
