Job summary

The Department of Corrections seeks a Corrections Welding Trade Instructor to provide hands‑on welding instruction and on‑the‑job training to inmates at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) Cambridge Springs. You will help inmates build practical welding skills while supporting facility operations and inmate skill development.

This is a full‑time role delivering classroom and on‑the‑job training, supervising inmate crews, ensuring safety, keeping records, and coordinating material planning.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in arc and gas welding of various components or structural frameworks.
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the welding trade.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training with one year of journey level work in welding.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and on‑the‑job instruction in welding practices and procedures.
• Direct inmate work crews and inspect completed welding assignments.
• Maintain order, discipline, and accountability for tools and materials.
• Document inmate progress, attendance, and assignment details.
• Identify, request, and inventory supplies needed for welding work orders.
