Job summary

Cummins Inc. in York, SC is seeking a Skilled Technician to join the manufacturing team. You will hand-weld rear axles, assemble dressed axles, and support the axle line while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will read schedules, follow work instructions, and participate in continuous improvement and teamwork to improve process efficiency. The role requires practical manufacturing knowledge and active engagement in site-wide safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience.
• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Responsibilities

• Gather all parts for each axle prior to welding by reading list on schedule.
• Weld parts to axles by hand by following process instructions.
• Inspect welds for defects by visually inspecting axle.
• Dispose of non-conforming parts and attach documentation as required.
• Move axle to conveyor and apply welder’s stamp mark.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping and safety practices.
• Train new welders as needed and support CI efforts.
• Assist with multiple functions per day to support material flow.
