Job summary

Job description

We are looking for a talented Skilled Technician - Level II to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in York, SC

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Education
  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience
  • Some Manufacturing and Assembly Knowledge
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Experienced with Tool

Candidate will hand weld Rear axles. In addition, line welding technicians will be required to build Rear dressed axles and/or be assigned to support the axle line in any necessary function.

Core Responsibilities
  • Following all safety rules and safe operating practices.
  • Adhering to all work instructions and completing all quality checks as defined in the control plans.
  • Meeting all site attendance expectations.
  • Being an active and engaged participant in the site CI efforts including employee suggestion implementation and active participation in PIE events.
Additional Attributes
  • Operators may also be required to run various pneumatic tools & hoists.
  • Job function may include jobs associated with minor maintenance and material handling of rear axles.
  • Operators must provide their own small hand tools as required by the Team.
  • Always maintain excellent housekeeping.
  • Be an effective team member and help other operators within the Team when needed. Working as a team member is essential to the successful operation of the Team.
  • Operators may be asked to perform more than one function per day to assist material flow.
  • Must be able to complete welding/assembly job requirements in a timely manner.
  • Job function may require candidate to train new welders.
Responsibilities
  • Gather all parts for each axle prior to welding by reading list of parts on schedule.
  • Weld parts to axles by hand by reading and adhering to process/ procedure instructions on the Work Instruction Manual.
  • Dispose of non-conforming parts by completing yellow Material for Disposition or Non-Conforming Material for and attaching form to part.
  • Inspect weld for defects by visually inspecting axle.
  • Record number of axles welded by writing required information in the Hour-by-Hour Chart.
  • Verifies individual axle information by comporting information on metal tag affixed to axle with customer truck ticket and schedule.
  • Welds parts on axle by placing part where it needs to go and hand welding.
  • Move axle to conveyor by using rotating machine to move axle to rear conveyor.
  • Place individual welder’s stamp mark on axle.
  • Be prepared for periodic internal audits by reviewing and becoming familiar with Working Instruction Manual processes and procedures.
  • Reviews daily schedule by noticing parts required by axles and highlighting unusual details.
