Job summary

Astec, a global manufacturing and infrastructure leader, is seeking a welder to join our production team in Illinois. The role focuses on welding heavy mechanical components per blueprints and production schedules.

You will perform MIG and stick welding, grinding, inspection, and assist fitters to assemble equipment, while following safety rules and quality standards to deliver reliable products.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 0-1 year welding experience required
• Heavy equipment manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to safely MIG weld, stick weld and arc gouge
• Ability to read and understand weld symbols

Responsibilities

• Weld metal components with MIG and stick processes to fit and join per specifications and production schedule
• Inspect welded joints and perform grinding to meet Astec standards
• Read blueprints and welding symbols before starting projects
• Work with fitters on proper assembly of equipment
• Adhere to safety rules and maintain clean, organized work area
