Job summary

Astec is seeking a skilled welder to join our manufacturing team. You will weld metal components, read blueprints, and participate in process improvement while supporting the production schedule. Focus on safety, quality, and efficient layout of equipment.

Candidates should have 3+ years of experience with heavy equipment welding, be able to MIG, TIG, and arc gouge, and read weld symbols. Training on confined space and PPE is required, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and productivity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Trade school or community college coursework preferred.
• 3+ years of experience with heavy equipment production line welding.
• Ability to read and understand weld symbols.
• Must be able to safely MIG, TIG, and stick weld, and arc gouging.
• Computer experience desired, including basic mouse operation and file access.

Responsibilities

• Performs a full range of welding and fabricating duties including fitting, joining, fabricating, repairing, troubleshooting with latitude to apply guidelines.
• Welders are responsible for the layout of plant equipment for welding.
• Welders must safely MIG, TIG, and stick weld, and arc gouging.
• Read and understand weld symbols.
• Inspect welds for quality and proper welds, including grinding to a presentable state.
• Keep work area clean and neat.
• Must be able to operate cranes and forklifts and use PPE as required.
