Job summary

Astec seeks a lead welder supervisor in our Belleville, IL facility to train and guide a welding team, ensuring safe, efficient production of heavy equipment. You will read blueprints, inspect welds, mentor staff and uphold quality in a dynamic shop.

Under supervision, you will enforce 6S principles, coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime, and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Trade school or community college coursework preferred.
• 5+ years of experience with heavy equipment production line welding.
• Computer experience desired, including basic program/file navigation.
• Knowledge to perform Grinder tasks; MIG, Stick welding and arc gouging required.
• Ability to read and understand weld symbols.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety rules and perform work at a high quality level.
• Read and understand assigned blueprints prior to starting a project.
• Participate in process and product development and improvement programs.
• Accurately inspect metal prior to welding to ensure clean welds.
• Perform grinding operations per Astec standards and maintain workflow.
• Lead team members engaged in welding to fabricate equipment foundations and frames.
• Provide PPE suggestions and supplies as needed.
• Lead 6S (Safety, Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
• Read and follow job orders and specifications; coordinate production sequence.
• Comply with OSHA safety rules and company policies.
