Job summary

ASTEC is seeking a welding technician to join our manufacturing team. You will weld metal components using MIG and stick methods, read blueprints, and ensure procedures meet the production schedule. Grinding and inspection are required to present high-quality welds.

The role emphasizes safety, equipment handling, and cooperation with fitters to assemble and finalize heavy mechanical products. Prior welding experience is valued and a strong attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 year welding experience required.
• Heavy equipment manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read welding symbols.
• Basic computer skills for file access.

Responsibilities

• Weld metal components with MIG and stick processes to fit and join parts per specs.
• Inspect welds and ensure quality; perform grinding per Astec standards.
• Read blueprints and follow production schedules; work safely at all times.
• Operate cranes/forklifts and maintain clean, organized work area.
• Adhere to PPE requirements and company safety rules.
