Job summary

DNOW is seeking a Welding Supervisor to lead all welding activities in an ASME code fabrication facility. You will manage welding personnel, enforce procedures, ensure customer specifications, and support production schedules.

Responsibilities include supervising welders, coordinating resources, ensuring code compliance, and partnering with QA/QC and NDE teams to maintain traceability and safety in a heavy industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Leadership and welding supervision experience in heavy fabrication.
• Strong understanding of ASME codes and AWS standards.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding maps.
• Excellent communication and team management skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily welding activities for pressure vessels, piping, and structural assemblies.
• Assign work, prioritize tasks, and monitor productivity to meet fabrication schedules.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, and consumables to support efficient workflow.
• Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and welding related issues.
• Ensure all welding complies with ASME Section IX, ASME Section VIII, B31.3, and AWS requirements.
• Verify proper use of qualified Welding Procedures (WPS) and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
• Ensure welds meet code requirements, engineering drawings, and acceptance criteria prior to inspection.
• Monitor weld quality and workmanship through process inspections.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and NDE personnel for RT, UT, PT, and MT inspections.
• Ensure traceability of materials, weld maps, welding records, and ASME documentation.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for weld defects.
• Enforce safety procedures related to hot work, confined space entry, lifting operations, OSHA requirements, and plant policies.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
• Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate welders and fitters while promoting continuous improvement and skills development.
• Interpret fabrication drawings, isometrics, weld symbols, and specifications.
• Provide technical guidance on SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW welding processes.
• Ensure proper joint fit up, preheat and interpass temperature control, and PWHT requirements.
• Troubleshoot welding defects, distortion, and metallurgical issues.
• Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Project Management, Client Representatives, and Authorized Inspectors.
• Support audits, client inspections, code compliance reviews, and communicate project progress, issues, and risks to management.
