Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. is hiring a Welder D for our Milwaukee facility. You will produce high-quality weldments using manual and mechanized FCAW, set up and operate welding equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

The role requires reading drawings, handling materials, performing various welds in several positions, and maintaining excellent workmanship with attention to safety. This is a 3rd shift (Sun-Thu) position with opportunities for growth and safety training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Welding Certification required.
• Experience with Flux-Core Arc welding in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions.
• Experience with carbon and alloy steels and various welding consumables.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment (forklifts, jib hoists, cranes).
• Familiarity with oxy-fuel cutting torches, air arcing equipment, and fall protection systems.
• Strong ability to work in confined spaces and at heights with scaffolds or lifts.
• Knowledge of welding parameters, shielding gases, and electrode selection.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and mechanized welding using FCAW in various positions.
• Read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and specs to determine welding requirements.
• Set up and operate preheating equipment, weld positioners, and handling equipment.
• Position and secure weldments using hitching and material handling techniques.
• Execute single and multiple pass welds in all positions, including confined spaces.
• Perform post-weld finishing and inspect welds for size and quality; repair as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and adhere to PPE and safety procedures.
• Routinely maintain welding equipment and assist in updating drawings or procedures.
