Job summary

Buyers Products Company in Mentor, OH, is seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor to lead daily welding operations, drive safety, quality and continuous improvement on the manufacturing floor. You will mentor welders and plant staff, coordinate shift work, and partner with engineering and quality to meet production goals.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on welding leadership, a background in fabrication manufacturing, and a passion for team development in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of operations leadership experience in welding/fabrication manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proficient with Lean Management techniques (C.I., 5S, Kaizen, Process optimization).

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily welding operations on the shop floor and assign work based on welder skill level and project requirements.
  • Train and mentor welders, robotic cell operators, and production staff.
  • Schedule and assign personnel, monitor progress, and report shift results.
  • Collaborate with engineering on weld procedures and process improvements.
  • Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and compliance with specifications.
  • Partner with quality control to resolve defects and process issues.
  • Maintain safety policies and drive a culture of safety and operational excellence.
  • Lead lean manufacturing, 5S, and process optimization initiatives.

Buyers Products Company, a leading manufacturer in the work truck industry, is seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will lead daily welding operations, support production goals, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and help foster a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence across the manufacturing floor.

What You Will Do
  • Operate as a manufacturing leader demonstrating metric‑based management in areas of PQDCCC for daily improvement– people/quality/delivery/cost/cash/CI
  • Responsible for driving a culture of safety, accountability, metrics and operational excellence.
  • Direct and coordinate daily welding activities on the shop floor and assign work based on welder skill level, certifications, and project requirements
  • Train and mentor welders, robotic cell operators, and production staff.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, resolving problems and reporting results on shift production summaries
  • Work with engineering on weld procedures, process improvements, fixture design, and technical issues
  • Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and compliance with specifications
  • Partner with quality control to resolve defects, rework, or process issues
  • Enforce OSHA and company safety policies
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring and upgrading processes, setting process variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, studying methods, implementing cost reductions and facilitating communications across cross functional teams
  • Ensures effective employee relations, coaching, and employee development
  • Lead or participate in lean manufacturing, 5S, and process optimization initiatives
Skills/ Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of operations leadership experience in welding/fabrication manufacturing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient with Lean Management techniques (C.I., 5S, Kaizen, Process optimization)
  • Capability to lead growth in a rapidly expanding organization
Education Background
  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Standing, Walking and Sitting for extended period of times (up to 2-3 miles per day)
  • Mobility and dexterity to move around operating machinery and powered industrial equipment
  • Ability to work on site to physically support manufacturing requirements
