Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
  • 5+ years of applicable experience in manufacturing engineering or similar roles.
  • Strong in robot programming and robotic welding technologies.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 quality systems and process improvement.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes including robotic welding, metal cutting, forming, assembly, and automation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve problems with long-lasting solutions across engineering, supply chain, operations, quality, and maintenance.
  • Hands-on support for production breakdowns and process capability issues.
  • Stay current with advancements in robotics, welding, automation, and standards.
  • Coach and mentor manufacturing engineers and production technicians.

Buyers Products Company, a leading manufacturer in the work truck industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead the development and optimization of manufacturing processes, drive automation and robotic welding initiatives, and partner across functions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance. You will play a critical role in supporting manufacturing excellence while helping to shape the future of our production capabilities.

What You Will Do
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes including robotic welding, metal cutting, metal forming, assembly, automation, etc.
  • Lead cross functional teams to resolve difficult problems with long standing solutions coordinating with engineering, supply chain, operations, quality, maintenance, etc.
  • Hands on support for production breakdowns, process capability and runnability issues.
  • Keep current with technical advancements in robotics, welding, automation, and regulations / standards.
  • Coach and mentor manufacturing engineers and production technicians.
Skills & Experience
  • Proficient in robot programming and robotic welding.
  • Experience with project management including new equipment acquisition and implementation.
  • Experience and success working with manufacturing to implement sound designs meeting safety, quality, cost, and reliability targets with a focus on the process user as customer.
  • Familiar with error proofing methods like failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Experienced with quality systems like ISO 9001 and new product development processes.
  • Exhibits thorough documentation, organizational, self-management, and communication skills.
  • A disciplined, influential personality who is self-motivated, results oriented, and capable of a sustained and continuous effort.
  • Ability to adapt and learn within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, sensors, and controls is preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma preferred.
Education Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Weld Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience with welding. Certification in welding preferred.
  • 5+ years of applicable experience
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Standing, Walking and Sitting for extended period of times
  • Mobility and dexterity to move around operating machinery and powered industrial equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
  • Ability to operate power tools and vibrating equipment
  • Ability to work on site to physically support manufacturing requirements
