How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Position Title: Weld Process Specialist

  • Covering VT, NH, & ME
  • Frequent regional travel (up to 50% of work time) requiring overnight stays.

The Welding Process Specialist is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Welding Processes, Applications, and Economics. This technical sales role focuses on shortening sales cycles for Welding and Automation by providing engineering support, product demonstrations, technical information, and automation selection. The specialist interacts with Airgas associates, external vendors, and customers.

  • Grow profitable sales of large capital Welding Processes and Applications to new and existing customers.
  • Provide technical knowledge to match customer needs with Airgas products and services, using sales tools like Efficiency Analysis and Weld surveys.
  • Initiate customer calls, offer product and application training, and support robotics and automation needs.
  • Coordinate installation and service of robotic, plasma, laser, and automation projects.
  • Evaluate customer welding processes and provide training for process improvement.
  • Collect market data on customer needs, trends, and competitors.
  • Promote the Airgas Welding Initiative using sales and marketing literature.
  • Maintain and upgrade technical skills through training and research.
  • Complete sales paperwork and respond to communications promptly.
  • Operate safely and promote safety standards among colleagues and customers.
  • Perform other duties and projects as required.
Are you a MATCH?
  • Associate's Degree in Welding (AAS) or equivalent military/trade training; Bachelor's in Engineering preferred.
  • At least 2 certifications such as CWI, CWS, CWE, or NCCER.
  • Additional certifications like CWEng, CWSR, or ASNT Level II/III are desirable.
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour training certification.
  • Membership in professional societies like AWS, ASM, or ASNT is highly desirable.
  • At least 3 years of technical sales experience and 7 years of welding industry experience.
  • Strong relationship management and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of TQM, Lean, or Six Sigma principles.
  • Broad knowledge of welding, cutting, and fabrication processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and visit various customer sites.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance as required.
