Qualifications

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Position Title: Weld Process Specialist

  • Covering VT, NH, & ME
  • Frequent regional travel (up to 50% of work time) requiring overnight stays.

The Welding Process Specialist is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Welding Processes, Applications, and Economics. This technical sales role focuses on shortening sales cycles for Welding and Automation by providing cost-saving engineering, shielding gas selection, weld training, product demos, technical info, and automation guidance. The specialist interacts with Airgas staff, vendors, and customers.

  • Grow profitable sales of large capital Welding Processes and Applications to new and existing customers.
  • Provide technical knowledge and match customer needs with appropriate products/services using Airgas sales tools.
  • Initiate sales calls, offer product/application training, engineering support, and automation services.
  • Coordinate installation and service of robotic, plasma, laser, and automation projects.
  • Evaluate customer welding/cutting processes and provide training for optimization.
  • Collect market data on customer needs, trends, and competitors.
  • Use sales and marketing literature to promote the Airgas welding initiatives.
  • Maintain and upgrade technical and sales skills through training and research.
  • Complete sales paperwork and respond to communications promptly.
  • Operate safely and promote safety culture.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Associate's Degree in Welding (AAS) or equivalent military/trade experience; Bachelor's in Engineering preferred.
  • Requires 2 certifications from CWI, CWS, CWE, NCCER, or similar.
  • Additional certifications like CWEng, CWSR, or Level II/III NDT are desirable.
  • OSHA 10/30-hour card or certificate required.
  • Memberships in AWS, ASM, ASNT, ASQ, ASME, SME are highly desirable.
  • 3+ years of technical sales experience and 7+ years in welding industry.
  • Strong relationship management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and travel to customer sites with varying environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance required.
