Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is seeking an experienced Lead Fitter/Welder to lead welding operations at our Clinton, IL plant. You will guide a team, lay out, fit, weld, and inspect components to meet blueprints, layouts, and work orders with safety and efficiency in mind.

Role requires 4+ years of welding/fabrication experience, Flux Core proficiency, and ability to perform multi-pass, horizontal/vertical welds with UT inspection pass rates.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of welding, fitting, or related fabrication experience.
• Experience with Flux Core welding processes.
• Certification or demonstrated ability to perform horizontal and vertical welds.
• Ability to perform multi-pass welds with consistent quality.
• Ability to perform circumference, or “C,” welds.
• Ability to qualify as a flat welder.
• Ability to maintain a 90% pass rate on UT inspection.
• Basic understanding of Oxy Fuel and Plasma burning processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide, and support a team of welders to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
• Repair welds and perform complex welding repairs as needed to meet quality standards.
• Assist in coordinating and completing work assignments to meet production schedules and deadlines.
• Apply welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, and repair metal components per blueprints and work orders.
• Complete advanced fitting, welding, and repair work requiring precision and sound judgment.
• Weld clips, hardware, and related components per specifications.
• Perform full-penetration welds, including slip joint welds, to connect ends to poles, channels, or other structural components.
• Operate grinding equipment to prepare, finish, and repair welded components.
• Train, coach, and assist less experienced welders as needed.
• Lay out and mark weld points on parts using drawings and measurements.
• Position components in jigs and fixtures using measuring tools and established methods.
• Inspect completed work for conformance to specs and quality standards.
• Maintain productivity and quality while supporting continuous improvement.
• Follow safety practices and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
