Job summary

Tesco Controls (a UFT company) is seeking a Welder Lead to supervise the welding and fabrication team in our metal shop. You will guide production, read blueprints, ensure quality, and mentor staff to meet safety and efficiency goals.

You should bring 5+ years of welding/fabrication experience, blueprints proficiency, and leadership skills. This on-site role offers growth within a stable, mission-driven company focused on water infrastructure in the U.S.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Welding certification preferred.
• Minimum 5 years welding and fabrication experience in manufacturing.
• Experience reading blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long shifts.
• Knowledge of welding codes, safety standards, and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily welding and fabrication activities.
• Assign tasks and monitor workflow to meet schedules.
• Perform complex welding (MIG, TIG, stick, flux-core) per drawings.
• Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Ensure products meet quality standards and customer specs.
• Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance to staff.
• Enforce safety procedures and PPE usage.
• Troubleshoot welding issues and propose corrective actions.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other teams on project needs.
• Maintain welding equipment and shop tools; assist with inventory.
• Document production, quality, and maintenance activities.
