College of the Canyons is seeking a Welding Lab Technician to support the Welding Technologies program. The role involves maintaining welding labs, preparing instructional materials, and assisting faculty and students in demonstrations and daily operations.

The position requires an Associate's degree and two years of journey-level welding experience, plus a valid California driver’s license and forklift certification.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time equivalent journey-level welding, metal fabrication, machinist, or related trade experience.
• Associate's degree (60 semester units) required; two years of additional directly related experience may substitute for each one year (30 semester units) of college.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid California Driver’s License; forklift operator certification or ability to obtain within probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Maintain welding labs, classrooms, tool rooms and related areas; operate welding and metalworking equipment.
• Assist faculty with organization, preparation and use of instructional supplies and materials; set up demonstrations requiring equipment and tools.
• Procure, receipt and processing of supplies; maintain inventory records; transfer supplies between locations as needed.
• Assist students in instructional settings; provide guidance on proper use of tools and PPE.
• Maintain laboratory safety procedures and proper disposal of scrap and waste materials; ensure proper operation of safety equipment.

Education

Associate's degree (60 semester units) from an accredited institution
