Job summary

East Central College is seeking a part-time Instructional Program Assistant – Welding to support welding laboratory operations. You will help with lab setup, equipment maintenance and inventory control to ensure safe, effective demonstrations.

Responsibilities include coordinating lab demonstrations with instructors, maintaining supplies, and assisting with student supervision. The role emphasizes safety, organization, and accurate record keeping for lab resources.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Welding or related field and one year related experience required

Responsibilities

• Set up, organize, and maintain laboratory materials, equipment, supplies, and related resources; review lab exercises and demonstrations for feasibility and safety.
• Schedule preparation and set-up of laboratory exercises and demonstrations according to instructors’ syllabi and safety requirements.
• Assist instructors in modifying lab setups and developing labs to demonstrate equipment or concepts.
• Maintain laboratory storage facilities and an orderly storage area; manage equipment records and off‑site storage inventory.
• Prepare, receive, unpack and store apparatus, supplies, and equipment; maintain a permanent inventory record system including costs.
• Consult with instructors about minor repairs and coordinate with outside vendors when needed.
• Assist faculty in supervising students in the laboratory and document progress as required.
• Perform duties safely and in line with established procedures with minimal supervision.
