Job summary

Trident Technical College seeks a Welding Laboratory Specialist III to support the Welding Program within the Division of Manufacturing and Maintenance. This role ensures the safe, efficient operation of welding laboratories and provides instructional support as needed.

The candidate will maintain facilities and equipment, order consumables, teach welding courses, and lead complex equipment troubleshooting in collaboration with vendors and safety staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required and advanced skill level in precision machine shop operations.
• Preferred: Associate degree in Welding Technology or related field and four (4) years of related work experience; or a High school diploma and ten (10) years of related work experience
• Candidates must be able to pass a welding skills test in all welding processes taught within the program.

Responsibilities

• Maintain welding laboratory facilities, equipment, tools, and instructional resources, including purchasing, installing, operating, troubleshooting, and repairing laboratory equipment.
• Order, receive, inventory, and stock welding consumables and supplies needed for program operations.
• Teach assigned welding courses as needed and maintain attendance and academic records; may include day, evening, weekend, and off-site classes.
• Serve as lead technician for troubleshooting and repair of complex welding and electromechanical equipment; coordinate with vendors and technical support.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with Facilities personnel and assist in timely completion of maintenance and repair projects.
• Collaborate with EH&S to ensure safety standards compliance and address safety concerns.
• Supervise work-study students and assist faculty with program-related duties in the lab.
