Job summary

Trident Technical College in Charleston, SC is seeking a Welding Laboratory Specialist III to ensure safe, efficient operation of the welding laboratories and provide instructional support to the Welding Program. The role requires hands-on maintenance of facilities and equipment, overseeing inventory and procurement of consumables, and teaching as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum: high school diploma and advanced skill level in precision machine shop operations.
Preferred: Associate degree in Welding Technology or related field with four years of related work experience; or high school diploma with ten years welding training and instruction experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain welding laboratory facilities, equipment, tools, and instructional resources, including purchasing, installing, operating, troubleshooting, and repairing laboratory equipment.
Order, receive, inventory, and stock welding consumables and supplies for program operations.
Teach assigned welding courses as needed, maintain attendance and records, and evaluate student performance.
Lead troubleshooting and repair of complex welding and electromechanical equipment, coordinating with vendors and tech support.
Coordinate maintenance activities with Facilities and support timely maintenance and repair projects.
Collaborate with EH&S to ensure safety standards compliance and address safety concerns.
Supervise work-study students and assist faculty with program and lab operations.
