Job summary

Metropolitan Community College - Kansas City (MCC) seeks a Welding Technology Lab Assistant to support staff, faculty and students in the Welding program, coordinating experiments, equipment preparation, and lab activities.

You will help monitor classrooms, maintain welding and thermal cutting equipment, assist instructors with materials, and help ensure safety and compliance in the Accredited Testing Facility.

Qualifications

• Associates degree related to the assigned program.
• One (1) year related experience in welding fabrication, welding shop oversight or laboratory support.
• Minimum Education Qualification can be substituted with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with instruction of proper techniques in the use of and proper maintenance of welding machines and thermal cutting equipment.
• Research tools used for welding and fabrication replacement parts for equipment used in the welding and fabrication field.
• Provides appropriate welding machine maintenance and repair.
• Assist full time and adjunct instructors with stocking metal coupons, welding supplies and other related needs.
• Assist in paperwork management and material tracking to support the ongoing operations and compliance of the Accredited Testing Facility.
