Job summary

Lansing Community College’s Welding Technologies Program seeks student employees to assist instructors and lab assistants during class times and help prepare and maintain the lab.

You will support lab safety, keep the lab clean, and assist with projects and equipment. Candidates must be welding program students, with flexible daytime/evening availability, and eligible for Federal Work-Study.

Qualifications

  • Dependable, self‑starter, outgoing, fast learner, and able to work in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Student in the Welding Program
  • May require daytime and evening hours
  • Applicants who are eligible to receive Federal Work‑Study awarded by LCC Financial Aid will be given priority consideration
  • Enrolled and actively attending Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 credits minimum (taken over 16‑week period)
  • Enrolled and actively attending Summer Semester = 3.0 credits minimum (taken over 8‑week period)
  • 2.00 GPA minimum (unless it’s the student’s first semester of enrollment at LCC and/or granted approval to waive requirement from the Student Employment Coordinator)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Actively pursuing a certificate, associate’s, or undergraduate degree at Lansing Community College
  • International students (F‑1 visa holders with valid I‑20 issued by LCC) must meet the following minimum enrollment requirements each semester: Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 12.0 credits minimum (taken over 16‑week period); Summer Semester = 3.0 credits minimum (taken over 8‑week period)

Responsibilities

  • Provide information on lab safety to students and visitors
  • Ensure that lab safety procedures are followed at all times
  • Ensure that the lab is clean, orderly, and properly prepared for each class
  • Assist students, faculty, and lab assistants during class time as requested
  • Assist in maintaining lab equipment
  • Assist in inventorying and maintaining supplies for the lab
  • Complete work requests for faculty and lab assistants
  • Work with faculty and lab assistants on projects as requested
  • Other responsibilities as needed
