Job summary

SOWELA invites applications for a Welding Instructor in the Academic Affairs division. This 9-month unclassified faculty appointment will lead welding courses and labs, maintaining records and aligning instruction with industry standards. You will guide student planning and workforce readiness while ensuring safety and quality across all lab activities.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related industry experience. Preferred: Technical Diploma in Welding.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Ability to pass 6G SMAW and 6G GTAW pipe tests.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Welding courses and labs per policies.
  • Maintain student records, documentation, and reports timely.
  • Assess and support student learning outcomes through evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain instructional standards and course outlines.
  • Advise students on academic planning and workforce readiness.
  • Apply AWS/ASME standards to ensure quality and safety.
  • Manage welding labs, equipment, inventory, and safety.
  • Collaborate with faculty, industry partners and stakeholders.
