Johnson College is currently seeking a part-time Welding instructor at our main campus in Scranton. This position involves organizing and delivering class syllabi and objectives clearly, maintaining a safe lab environment, ensuring training aids, tools, and equipment are well-maintained and ready for use, keeping accurate records of student performance, and providing timely feedback to students.
The ideal candidate should be confident in speaking before small groups, passionate about recruiting into skilled trades, and flexible with work hours, including evenings. Minimum requirements include 4-5 years of technical experience and/or an Associate's degree; teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Expertise in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), including understanding of its principles and practices, is essential. The candidate should have hands-on experience in various welding applications, proficiency in machine setup, gas configuration, and welding in all positions. Skills in welding non-ferrous metals like stainless steel and aluminum, working with different plate thicknesses, and demonstrating open root welding are required. Additional skills include proficiency in cutting with oxygen/acetylene torches and plasma cutters. Candidates must work efficiently and safely, arrive punctually, and be able to stand for extended periods. Basic computer skills and receptiveness to guidance are also necessary.
