Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to hold accept/reject authority for structural steel, pipe, and welded assemblies. Inspect to AWS and ASME/API standards, witness qualification tests, review WPS/PQR, and sign reports relied upon by engineers and officials.

You will move between fabrication shops and sites, perform rejections with documented repair instructions, and oversee NDT coordination on projects with travel as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting to AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required.
• Ability to review WPS and PQR documents and welder qualification records.
• Capable of directing NDT and writing inspection reports with supporting repair instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority per governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records and witness qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret non-destructive testing and document findings.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection, including high-strength bolting and base plate grouting.
• Write inspection reports and nonconformance reports for engineers and the building official.
