Qualifications

• AWS CAWI certification or eligibility for the CWI exam.
• Ability to read structural drawings, weld symbols, and WPS/PQR.
• Capable of working at height and in confined spaces on active sites.
• Careful, consistent, and honest about weld appearances.

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance before and during welding.
• Perform visual weld inspection under supervision to AWS D1.1 or governing code.
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control, and calibration records.
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports.
• Flag rejectable indications for CWI disposition.
• Coordinate NDT (UT/MT/PT) with the NDT technician and record results.
