Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Welding Inspector I to work under a Certified Welding Inspector on structural steel and pipe welds, verifying fit-up, joint preparation, and WPS compliance.

You will perform visual inspection to AWS D1.1 or governing code, maintain weld maps/logs, and coordinate NDT with the NDT technician. CAWI certificate or 3+ years welding experience with CWI exam eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Must have welding/inspection experience and ability to sit for CWI exam.
• Ability to read structural drawings, weld symbols, and WPS/PQR documents.
• Physically able to work at height, in confined spaces, on active sites.

Responsibilities

• Verify fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance.
• Perform visual inspection under supervision to AWS D1.1 or governing code.
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control, and equipment calibration records.
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports.
• Flag rejectable indications for disposition.
• Coordinate NDT (UT/MT/PT) with NDT technician and record results.
