Job summary

Actalent in Fort Mill, SC is seeking a Welding Inspector to perform code-compliant structural inspections and QA/QC testing on welded structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and other building components to ensure compliance with project specifications.

You will interpret structural drawings and welding details, execute field inspections, document results, and coordinate with contractors and engineers to resolve issues while upholding safety procedures and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret plans, structural drawings, welding details, specifications and inspection criteria.
• Experience or strong interest in pipe welding and welding inspection activities.
• Knowledge of quality control inspection and QA/QC practices in construction or structural environments.
• Capability to perform field testing and field inspection on structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and other building components.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural inspections and QA/QC testing of welded structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and other building components in accordance with plans, specs, codes and project requirements.
• Interpret drawings, welding details and inspection criteria to verify workmanship and design intent.
• Execute field inspections and testing activities, assess workmanship and identify discrepancies or nonconforming work.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, special inspectors and other stakeholders to communicate findings and support compliance.
• Document inspection activities through detailed daily reports, including test results, observations and photos.
• Apply AWS CWI credential to ensure welds meet codes and standards.
• Utilize NDT UT Shear Wave capabilities when applicable to evaluate structural integrity.
• Leverage ICC certifications to enhance inspection thoroughness.
• Travel to various work sites to perform inspections and testing; maintain professional communication.
