Job summary

SQA Services seeks a Welding Inspector to ensure quality and compliance of welded components. On-site, 4–8 hours daily, 5 days a week, for 3–6 months. Candidate will perform inspections per AWS D1.1, review WPS, and coordinate with NDE as needed.

Must have 3–5 years in structural welding inspection and possess high school diploma with technical training. Convenient on-site work, strict adherence to documentation, and ability to review fabrication drawings and weld symbols are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training in welding inspection preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of structural welding inspection experience preferred.
• Experience inspecting structural steel fabrication and welded assemblies.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 requirements and AWS B1.11 visual inspection practices.
• Welding processes: FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, GTAW (preferred).
• Understanding of weld symbols and fabrication drawings.
• Weld gauges and inspection tools familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection (VT) of structural welds per AWS D1.1 criteria.
• Evaluate weld workmanship and surface condition.
• Identify weld discontinuities including cracks, undercut, porosity, overlap, and more.
• Verify weld profiles, size, and contour requirements.
• Inspect fillet, groove, CJP and PJP welds.
• Review WPS documentation and welder qualifications.
• Coordinate with NDE personnel when required.
• Generate inspection reports and nonconformance documentation.
• Support corrective action and root cause investigations.
• Maintain inspection records and traceability.
