Job summary

National Bridge & Heavy Structural Steel Fabricator is seeking an experienced quality inspector to verify welds and fabrications across critical infrastructure components. You will perform visual, dimensional, and layout inspections, ensuring all work aligns with AWS codes and project specifications.

You will monitor welding parameters, conduct NDT where required, and maintain meticulous QC logs while coordinating with external inspectors.

Qualifications

  • Must read blueprints and interpret welding codes (AWS D1.1/D1.5).
  • Experience in steel fabrication shop environments is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with standard measurement tools and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual, dimensional, and layout inspections of fabricated steel components.
  • Monitor welding parameters and welder qualifications to ensure code compliance.
  • Conduct non-destructive testing (VT, MT, PT, UT) and bolt rotational capacity tests.
  • Maintain QC logs and coordinate hold points with external inspectors.
  • Collaborate with production teams to provide real-time quality decisions.
  • Utilize Total Stations for verification and ensure fracture-critical compliance.

National Bridge & Heavy Structural Steel Fabricator

  • Perform visual, dimensional, and layout inspections of fabricated steel components.
  • Monitor welding parameters and welder qualifications to ensure compliance with WPS and codes.
  • Conduct non-destructive testing (VT, MT, PT, UT) and bolt rotational capacity tests.
  • Maintain precise QC logs and documentation, coordinating hold points with external inspectors.
  • Collaborate directly with production teams, providing real-time quality decisions and support.
  • Utilize tools like Total Stations for verification and ensure all work meets fracture-critical and other AISC endorsements.
  • Must-Have: Current AWS CWI or ASNT VT Level II certification.
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and interpret welding codes (AWS D1.1/D1.5).
  • Proficiency with standard measurement tools and a keen, detail-oriented eye.
  • Experience in a steel fabrication shop environment is highly preferred.
  • Bonus Certifications: ASNT MT Level II, ASNT UT Level II, or NACE/SSPC BCI Level I will significantly increase your earning potential.
  • You are a team-oriented, proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills.
