Job summary

Experience Champaign Urbana is seeking a general service associate for the Weld department in our automotive manufacturing facility. You will support robotic and automated welding equipment, load/unload parts, monitor operations, perform basic inspections, and keep a clean, safe work area on 2nd shift (3pm–11pm).

This role emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and reliability. On-the-job training is provided, with opportunities to grow into more technical welding roles as you gain experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • On-the-job training provided.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while standing for extended periods.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Familiarity with basic welding processes or robotic machinery.
  • Willingness to learn and grow into more technical roles.

Responsibilities

  • Load raw materials or components into automated weld fixtures or robotic weld cells.
  • Unload finished welded parts and place them in designated containers or racks.
  • Visually inspect welds for basic quality issues such as missing welds, burn-through, or misalignment.
  • Monitor weld cell operations and alert the supervisor or maintenance team of any malfunctions or abnormalities.
  • Clean weld spatter and perform minor maintenance or touch-ups on fixtures as directed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with 5S and lean principles.
  • Assist in the changeover of tools, fixtures, or materials as needed.
  • Record basic production or inspection data as required.

Job Summary

General Service for the Weld department is responsible for supporting the operation of robotic and semi-automated welding equipment in an automotive manufacturing environment. This position includes loading and unloading parts, monitoring equipment operation, performing basic inspections, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. This position is for 2nd shift, 3pm-11pm.


Key Responsibilities


  • Load raw materials or components into automated weld fixtures or robotic weld cells.

Work Environment

Automotive manufacturing plant with exposure to laser machinery, metalworking equipment, noise, and heat. Required to wear PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, arm guards, high visible belt or vest, and steel-toe boots. Shift work, overtime, and weekend availability may be necessary based on production schedules.
